Odyssey Stretch Video Screen

Has anyone had good results using the Odyssey Stretch Video screen?

Does anyone have any examples of how they were able to use it?

I'm trying to decide whether to use an LCD TV Monitor or use a decent projector and the Odyssey Stretch Video screen as a backdrop for my mobile DJ setup.

I like the idea of being able to use the stretch screen as a curtain wall and put LED lights behind it. I also like the light weight and flexibility.

On the other hand, the LCD TV also has advantages but is a lot heavier and delicate to deal with.

You might get more response on  the DJ Forum as that is really the target market for such products with rental and staging as a secondary market.
 
In regards to LCD display versus projection on a spandex screen, almost regardless of the projector used the LCD will provide a brighter, sharper image.  At the same time, it would take an array of several tiles LCD displays to provide the same image area as one of the stretch screens, say something like a 2x2 array of 50" flat panel displays for the typical Odyssey screens.  LCDs also require no throw distance or space for the projector, avoid concerns about interference with the projection path and avoid hot spotting that can be common with stretched spandex screens.  It probably comes down to how much the video is a focus for the audience versus being an effect.

I guess my next investigation will be a a better quality rear projection screen. I can probably setup in most places and not have an issue with path interference with most of the venues.

That spandex sure looks kind of cool though in an 80s way...lol

It will work, it is simply that it is an unknown, but likely low, gain and has unknown off-axis viewing, the kinds of things that may not be critical for basic background effects but are important where you want peopel to be able to clearly read text, see colors accurately, see a brighter image, etc.
