yorky ls 608 subs on a qsc plx 3102?
« on: April 11, 2010, 10:08:06 AM »

hello to all.any input is greatly appreciated as i'm planning on buying a pair of yorky ls 608 subs to be powered by one channel off a qsc plx3102...1000w at 4 ohms.i've never underpowered speakers before so i'm just wondering as if anybody have had this setup before?i play mostly older 70s disco/80s pop music.a bit of modern day pop as well.the sub is rated at 800w rms at 8 ohms.the other channel would be used for a pair of either a jbl mr 825 or ev sx 300 cabs, depending on the type of gig i have.average crowd would be around 150-225 people, mostly middle age.if i ever have to do a middle school dance, i'd just rent out bigger subs to go with my setup, but that's in my future bookings as my son just turned 13, and you know what that means....another consideration i have in mine is the jbl srx 718s.i can get a  used pair of these in good condition, for about the same price of a pair of new 608, and yes , i will definitely be using an active xover for the application.dbx 223xl.HAPPY GOOD SUNDAY TO ALL.BTW, PORTABILITY AND WEIGHT ISSUES ARE PRIORITIES ON MY LIST

The 718 is a far better "sub" for recorded music, the LS608 hardly qualifies at all with a -3db point at 50hz.

Is there a reason for only one amp? If it weight, perhaps a pair of lighter ones will get you enough power?

The JBL is certainly a better unit than the Yorkies. A used pair of the SRX cabs is the way to go here.

I'm a one man crew for now.this is the reason why i only use 1 amp, though i'm trying to get rid of my pos crown ce2000.once that thing is sold, i'm going to get another qsc plx 3102 or 3602.this way i can power the 2 subs in bridge mono, but for now, i'm stuck with using 1 amp.tnx
