So a recent thread got me thinking. I have personally never thought much about flipping a signal ground lift on the remote side of a signal chain. It's unavoidable sometimes; for me more often than not (in many cases on indoor setups, you don't get your first choice of circuits or even power trunks to plug into).

Seems to me that, as long as only one side is lifted, and the other side has a good ground, there's no big deal flipping that switch. The problems would come with a high-impedance earth on the grounded side, or when lifting both sides which effectively removes the shield. Are there any other gotchas I just haven't encountered yet that make ground lifting further down the list of fixes than I generally put it?

In a hostile RF environment, having the shield lifted at the receiver can allow RF infiltration. One workaround in that instance is to insert a .01
