I am a bit surprised that the KW181 doesn't go lower than 43/39Hz (-6/-10dB.)  I was hoping that QSC would refresh the HPR181i not only with lighter, more modern electronics; but also with better low-frequency extension to suit my application.

So how does the driver quality compare?  Are they using the same drivers as the HPR line, the K series, or entirely new drivers?

Any more information on date of availability?  "Summer 2010" is very vague.  We are looking to purchase speakers like these but need them no later than the first of June.  We had been looking at the K12's and HPR122i's.  If the quality and price of these are comparable, I would really like to have these as an option.  

American manufacturing sounds great.  I do like the idea of supporting american workers, especially in this economy.

The drivers are custom made to QSC specs.

The "Summer 2010" is indeed vague, but it's as precise as we can get, three months away in March.

I like QSC stuff, just to be clear.

However, one trend they are following is not making me happy.
They do not publish +- 3dB points in the specs. They are using 6 & 10 dB numbers.

I like the sound of my K12s but I gotta wonder if there is something bad in the 3dB specs that keeps them from showing them.

Yep.  I think seeing some response graphs could open some eyes as well, possibly the eyes of people that wouldn't considering a product like this without proper charts.

Does anyone have measurements of and of the QSC stuff?

Admittedly I'm a QSC fanboy... and these look nice, but I think QSC didn't really think this through.  These are pretty much birch K-series. Looking at specs side by side, this looks like a compromise between K's and HPR's.   My question now... why would anyone buy a K-series unless they heavily discount them. QSC had an opportunity to improve the HPR's and make a HPR "v2",  IE; make a SRX quality-type powered cab... and didn't.  Instead they made something that makes original K-line, for the most part, useless now. A DJ friend of mine is a perfect example. He bought a set of K12's. He wants them light and just for music playback. He doesn't need the birch cabinets.

A Public address system used for just announcements that needs to be lighter and mobile. would not need the birch cabinets.

The bigger question is does the extra weight warrant the change in sound (We won't know that till we actually hear them. just speaking figuratively now)?
