     Being on the road a lot in the next few months I am looking for a way to access my office computer while traveling. Is their a "remote desktop" that you can use via the internet? The office computer is running Windows XP and I would be accessing from a Macbook Pro running Windows XP. Any help on this would be amazing!

You will need to do these things:

1.  Set up DDNS on your office computer.
http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/

2. Set up port forwarding on your office router to forward port 3389 (RDP port) to your office computer.

3. Setup a secure user name and password on your office computer and enable remote desktop in the operating system, if it is not already enabled.

That should do it.

There are commercial products that also accomplish the same thing, if you are concerned about security, or are uncomfortable setting things like port forwarding on your router up.
Specifically I know of a lot of business use solutions from citrix.  See:  www.gotomypc.com

Also, microsoft small business server does some of this out of the box.

I use vnc server to do exactly that....I can access my home desktop via any computer with vnc viewer installed, and also through my iPhone

I also use it for fun stuff like doing a lighting focus from the grid without needing anyone else to run my desk for me

dyndns plus remote desktop works great for me, and I don't recall having to do any special port forwarding..

+1!  No ports or routers to configure!  Just install and go!  I do computer repair work all over the country for family and friends with the free version.  All my company computers are also accessible with this.  Easy to turn on or off... your remote screen becomes your actual screen... very cool!

Great program, great granulation levels for the free and pay products.

I use it literally every day.

the free version cannot be remote installed on the destination computer, you have to set it up on that ocmputer sitting in front of it.  The pay version, of course, can be remote added/configured to other machines.
