Wouldn't want to be trying to mix the support acts though.  Cool

110dB isn't all that loud, certainly not worth reporting.  Ask Evan about screaming girls!

I feel sorry for the openers, I can almost whisper that loud  Laughing

Yeah! Laughing

My mix average 104-108dBA @ FOH. The crowd normally hits 111dBA between songs, with peaks as high as 117dBA. Though, a new record was set in Scottland with the crowd hitting 121dBA @ FOH!  Shocked

We just finished doing Sound Wave festival over in Australia. I had on average a 100dB limit each day. The crowd was louder then the PA most days, and the FOH guy asked "is this how your shows normally are?" He was dumbfounded when I said it was normally 10dB+ louder then this.

Here's just a sample of what I deal with nightly:

It's not the best audio quality, but you get the picture. I believe I was hitting around 115dBA during the intro combined with the crowd and PA.

Interesting about the openers, if Adelaide is anything like Sydney, they'll probably be measuring that level from the street adjacent to the nearest residential area, so that 75-80dbA on the street will work out just fine inside the venue. AC/DC have obviously been given a free pass, so it'll probably all be fine.

One of my mates is mixing Calling all Cars (GREAT band!) and I've done a few Wolfmother shows, there's no way they'll play ball with those levels. Wolfmothers backline and monitor levels (they're all still on wedges AFAIK) would run all over that.

And here I am getting pissed because the serving wench hung out at FOH when my band started Saturday and was singing the lead badly while I was trying to tweak the money channel.

Hi Evan,

Thanks for posting that video.

I'm not familiar at all with your band, but listened to a few of the other videos, and this one has a much better audio track (the other one is a better example of the screaming)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8NwVn2JgSI&feature=relat ed

That is catchy music, and I bet it's a lot of fun to work with them and at that level of success. I'll keep my eyes open for a CD to better appreciate more of their stuff.

The lighting effect in that song is cool, too.

Take care,
Dan

Evan... how you can put up with that constant shrieking is hard to imagine. You really should be getting ear plug & headphone endorsement offers for being able to get through that and still mix a tight show everyday!!!
Either that, or clear-sonic should step in and build you an Apple store style plexi-cube to mix from. index.php/fa/28458/0/
