$3,500 For Subs
« on: December 01, 2009, 03:34:52 PM »

Ok so i may just go with the EAW Avalon DC2 (tops) and DCS2 Subwoofers but i found a great deal on just the DC2 tops and im curious if you know of any subwoofers that will still be really high output that will possibly go a little lower than the DC2 (drops off sharply below 45 hz)

Can't be wider or deeper than 3 feet but can be really tall (or multiples stacked high)

FWIW it's for dance music and i'm used to 4 LAB Subwoofers

Brian brought some of the PX2181s along when we had the midwest get together.

It has some potential.

Doesn't look like it has substantial output below 45Hz either...

Yeah I saw that too.
But IMHO they do have some potential.

Besides I'm tired of telling everyone to get SRX728s.
But, the 728 is 33" deep, and goes down to 33hz give or take 3db.

Why not more LABs?  I don't know how much to build, but assume you could get a least a few put together (or maybe picked up used from someone) for within your budget?

FWIW I just ended up going with the 4 DCS2 Subwoofers. I know i'll get pretty good results and have minimal worries about DJs blowing up my stuff

Still...would of been nice to get down to 35 hz or so
