I'm not a psychiatrist, and far be it from me to make a diagnosis of somebody I've never met on the basis of a couple of forum postings. But I'm getting some strong hints of Asperger syndrome from Chris.

It's not necessarily a bad thing to have strong opinions, but there are some important skills in picking up social cues from others. If those skills don't come to you naturally, there are still ways to learn them, and you'll probably lead a happier life having done so.

This is about communication, I remember my first tries to communicate in here. This is a slow process as nobody knows you at first.
Pressing an opinion like you did may not be the best way to introduce yourself. But after all I can tell this is not a hostile environment in here. When I posted some half baked bs I was told so and I was asked pointed questions. Which is fine by me. When different mind-sets clash together (take USA - Europe) there may be no way to find a common denominator but still this is different to a club. People read, decide to reflect on posts and finally may decide to reply on posts. In a closed club or in a pub most of the people don't really listen, let alone reflect on what they listened to if they actually listened.

After having some nice conversations here and some rather messed-up (mainly based on unclear communication on my side) I still consider myself a newbie on this forum and I don't regret a single log in.

YMMV...

I try to learn something new EVERYDAY!  This is one place where I can go and increase my knowledge.  The fact that the are a lot of people here that know a lot more and have a lot more experience than I makes this the place to be.  There are no other forums like this one, period!

Whats up with this? I leave for a week and the wacko's come out of the woodwork. And I thought I was the wacko.

Anyway, Chris, here is the deal.

I have an assignment for you. You obviously have no idea who you are saying what to. You need to look up everyone that you have been "ahem, conversing" with and read up on them. Read at least an hours worth of posts from each of them.

One of the greatest things about this place is that everyone knows, (or can if they pay attention), about the other participants. To get this off to a great start, everyone uses their real names. So its not a bunch of anonymous weirdos, its real life weirdos. And they are not hiding behind a cloak of anonymity.

So back to your assignment. Whether you realize it or not, you have engaged some of the best names here. So if you read up on them, you will have an idea of who they are, their specialties, their business "cred". And whether they have anything that could be taken seriously in your conversation. You don't even know that you have been posing as a contrarian, to other contrarians.

You don't need to read up on me, because I have not offered any live sound advice in your posts/trolls. But this is the best advice you will ever get for free on the interweb. Because:

1) I am right, or
2) If its not worth your time to do that, its not worth our time to respond, or
3) You already know everything you need to know, and nothing here can further educate you, or
4) Why are you still here? If everyone here is wrong, and you are right, then leave us to our happy little ignorant party. Go out and dominate the world and leave us to our delusions.

So you got a lot of reading to do, get to it.

Well, I think if you were to quietly hang around and do some reading you would find a wealth of information here......free for the taking. The overwhelming number of years of experience available here is something that should not be taken for granted. I have learned so much here, and have received very timely and well informed help with any questions I have posted. I suppose each persons mileage will vary though.
