What is better?
Dennis Goh:
Hi guys,
Kind of caught in a delima.
Was shopping around for JBL eon 518s then the guy showed me the prx 618xlf....
Was about to pay money then my younger brother drag me to another shop selling Folded Horns.....
Have heard Wharfedale MX F18B, Cerwin vega ab-36b, Peavey SP FH & DJS horn, B-52's LX SPF18S.
All of them do go almost as low & loud VS the JBLs...only alot cheaper (getting a xti or yamaha amp together.)
The horns on paper shows 30Hz - 300Hz.
How should i go about choosing which to get?
EDITED HERE> I meant to get the jbls or the horns?
What will be the deciding factor? In which area..
I am not doing gig or mobile dj, just putting at home for music.
Or i just get LAB sub plan^^?
Please advise.
Thanks.

If this is for home use-then why not get a loudspeaker system that has less "color" than a PA loudspeaker, Unless you are just looking for loud. In that case you need to start with your budget.
You need to also look a lot deeper at the specs than just a printed freq response. Such as + or - and how does that relate to a stated sensitivity and so forth.
Comparing is not as simple as it would seem-as not everybody rates them the same way.

I'd avoid ANY horn with that kind of freq response
subs however...

Are you saying horn loaded subs can't do that range?
I guess I'm confused

Me too. :o
Regardless though, if the OP is looking for home theatre boxes there are plenty of companies offering speakers made to order for that application. If the OP is looking for pro sound components for home theatre then the only true test will be a blind listening test.
As for the choices listed other than JBL I wouldn't put my money into any of them. As for the JBL, the PRX are pretty good, but only IF I had a specific need.
And OP. Work within your budget, but keep in mind you get what you pay for.
