Have you had a chance to AB this against a pair of TH-115's?  Or TH-215's?

Nope. But I have heard the TH115s and I'm pretty confident the new TH412 will beat a pair, maybe more. It also goes waaaay lower. I was super impressed at some of the electronic music at my last show, I was like, "I didn't know that sounded like that." And here I am, used to 30Hz LAB subs...

On a side note, the 350 pound TH412 was still walking across the shop floor when I was abusing it with 8,000 watts.

No abuse - the IT8000 was perfect as it provided 3dB in excess of the sub's continuous rating, allowing it to achieve its full program rating. The sub probably sounded quite proper with the clip limiter LED's flashing on the amp. :)

The TH412 with the new drivers will produce the SPL of 2.4 TH115's. The fact that it goes deeper will make it sound louder still subjectively.

Does this mean the TH-812, and possibly TH-212 will have the drivers swapped as well?  Is there an automatic 1dB increase in output?  If so, when will the website and spec sheets reflect these changes?

Caleb

Yes.  The 812 will be using the same drivers as the TH412.  We cannot do the same thing with the 212 as the internal size is a problem using the TBX drivers.

We are changing to the PS100 drivers as used in the TH mini-so the power will remain the same as before-but the 812 will go up.

The freq response curves are, for all paractical purposes, the same.  With the exception of a little wiggle or squiggle the curves lay on top of each other.

Yes the website will be updated.  When will depend on the IT dept. Laughing

Ivan, I just wanted to be sure I read you correctly (as it seems from the comments following yours above that most people didn't read you right - including myself).

You are saying that the TH-212 has also had it's drivers changed - only not to the TBX drivers like the 812 and 412, but instead to the PS100 as in the TH-MINI? So even if the problem was (/is for those with old TH-212s) not nearly as big for the TH-212, it has been altered. Correct?

Oh, and now that I'm at it: Will Danley be at Frankfurt this year? (Cause then I might be)
