I just purchased 4 dual 18 cabs loaded with low riders and 4 dual 12's (black widows) with 44xt horns.

According to peavey they take 2400 continious per dual 18 cabinet. Thats just sounds like to much. What are some suggestions for amps to power these. Looking at the crest 9200 and 8200 pro and the peavey 4080hz. Also i do own 2 xti 4000's but im scared 1200 is under powering them (although alot of people tell me no it's not)

Was thinking of putting the xti 4000's on the mids and maybe a 1000 on the horns. Your thoughts.

I would assume they mean 2,400w 'program' which is usually the recommended amplifier size as well as twice the RMS rating of the drivers.

A 600w RMS 18" sub driver sounds about right.

So the general recommendation is 1.5-2 times the RMS rating.  The total RMS rating of the two drivers in one box at 4Ω would be 1,200w, so any amp rated at 1,800w to 2,400w would be ideal.

The Crest 9200 is a good amp, as is the the 4080.

The low rider 18 is a good speaker, I just loaded some double 18 cabinets with them this past spring. I built and tuned the cabinets for them. The cabinet tuning will make a difference on the power handling. Depending on how the cabinets are tuned/designed the speakers could reach or exceed Xmax with a lower power level at the lower end frequencies. Do you know the history of the cabinet builder and the design that was used.

I have pics of them posted. As far as how they were tuned i do not know.  The guy owned a big sound company and had 24 total. He kept 16 and i bought 8.

Are they Peavey Low Riders or Low Max speakers loaded in the cabinets.
