Cool Scenic tech on Bon Jovi tour
« on: March 04, 2011, 05:48:04 PM »

A friend who is the RF coordinator on the tour sent me THIS LINK. This is very cool technology. It's nice to have a big budget.

The link seems to be missing? :)
David

Edit: Sorry- no it's not. But there's no distinction between the regular text, and the link, in the skin I am using. (or the fact that I hadn't got more than 2 posts meant that I couldn't see it?)

If you are using the Curve skin the hyperlink text does not have enough contrast. That's on a list of things to fix. They are working on the core theme first, but I think it's hideous. I'll make it in caps to give it more of an image.

Yes- in Curve. It makes the forum look much more manageable. Thanks for the link- great video :)

24 hours a day for 5 years straight, and there will only be half a human hair of error. Amazing.

On the previous Bon Jovi tour, they used similar robots for cameras, with a twist - the robots were suspended upside down from an overhead track.  They could move independently on the track until they reached a proximity limit (due to rigging load).

The way the tour split up the local crew calls I don't know what other robotics were used, if any, but the dual use show in the clip (video & set architecture) is pretty slick.  Thanks for the link.

Very high Tech but I  wonder about liability waivers.  Those robots would slice and dice you without a blink if someone got in the way or there was a major malfunction.  You wouldn't think the company would sell them for that purpose.
