I recently attended an award ceremony at my daughter's middle school. She is a member of their championship 8th grade girls basketball team, ending the season with a 15-1 record.
Her name will now hang on a banner in the school gym for posterity.
During the ceremony, the vice-principal mentioned all the girls on the team are also on the honor roll, with an average of 89.5 or higher. I think that's pretty cool.
Now, on to the "What's Wrong?" part.
When the school principal spoke at the ceremony, she told a story about how the the local company they got their other banners from were not in business anymore, and they had to go out of state to have the banner made. She also went on about the design/proof/approval process.
Mind you, this lady is one of those people who gets all bent out of shape if you inadvertently call her "Mrs." instead of "Dr.". OK, she did the work, she got the degree, she deserves the respect. I am cool with that.
Now look at the banner. You'd think that with all these advanced degrees flyin' around, someone might have caught that, alphabetically, Dermont comes before Dumback.
Well, at least they spelled all the names right.
I find this amusing. Maybe I need to get out more.
