HF horn design?
« on: May 04, 2009, 10:42:22 PM »

Tried the forum search and google but didn't get very far.  I know this is a sub forum but it seems to have the most DIY'ers on it.

So where do I start if I wanted to build my own HF horns?  Mostly for the fun of it and the education value.  Anybody got any links -or referrals to those cardboard and paper things ("books" I think they used to call them Smile

I have a leftover set of DH1a's that would be fun to make use of.

thanks for any tips

Bill Fitzmaurice has several HF horn designs that are DIY. Just download the plans for a small fee and start building.

Craig,

Reading books is good, but making cardboard and duct tape horns is a quick way to get a feel for different designs also.

The 2”  exit presents difficulties if you want good HF response, and requires a more complicated throat if you want wide dispersion above about 5K.

I have sent you a PM about some units I have made that are available.
