Front fill and comb-filtering (available literature?)
« on: July 30, 2009, 12:33:19 AM »

Does anyone recall any "definitive" literature or discussions on comb filtering - and mitigation - between ground stacked mains and front fills?

Just looking for anything comprehensive, especially for the smaller rig world.

This is just for light summer reading.

Just wondering how the geniuses decide which trade off they accept.

Not asking to solve a problem here.

(I already can (but rarely do) "steer" with delay, placement, different configurations, and use minimal content off aux or matrix, etc., etc. and have had plenty of under-balcony fill fun with the same concepts  Surprised )

Other than Bob McCarthy's "Sound System Design and Optimization", which is a "deep" and not inexpensive book that covers (along with lots of other speaker interaction issues) delay fills, his article(s) in Mix Magazine may address this. Google.

I recalled a post that Bob sent here to LAB some time ago that (to some degree) addresses delay speaker alignment:

http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/m/253263/18044/?sr ch=haas#msg_253263

Perhaps this thread (in which Bob's reply was written) will prove to be useful.
