That's a pretty serious mix up on the photo.

I'm kind of leaning towards this route so I got a couple more questions.
Is   http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=290- 570 a driver better than this one? http://www.usspeaker.com/lab12-1.htm

The Generation II is the better driver? Another thing, how can I be sure I have the latest or best plans for the "Lab subwoofer"?

Does anyone have any good graphs on the Lab sub? I've run a couple of searches here and found some frequency graphs on v1 thru v3. but that was about it. I'll try a few more searches but if somebody knows the links I'd appreciate your saving me a little time.

Was v3 the final and best version to the majority on the forum?
What are the rough dimensions of a completed cab in inches?
Thanks,
Mike

LABs are 22.5x45x45 inches. The Lab12 driver currently available is version 2; version 1 was a prototype and isn't available.

The plans you want are here:

And FYI Parts Express is selling the woofer at MAP, check around before you buy!

First off, Thanks a bunch for all of the support. This is a great forum because of patriots like you guys.

Just got a price on building the lab cabs from a reputable guy today. Top grade birch wood, any blank spaces filled with foam, smooth corners, the whole enchulada. Neither price includes the drivers. $750 unfinished or $800 finished with the truck bed stuff if I have him build 4 at the same time. What are your thoughts on this? Should I place the order or search on for somebody who might do it less expensive but could cut a corner here or there. pun intended (hehe)

Sounds like it is pretty much inline with what Silas said and it would probably be just dumb not to pay the extra $50 for the bed liner finish.

Option 2 is using my cousins husband who had built cabinets for at least 20 years. He has table saws, clamps and all the tools I don't have. Not sure what he would charge me yet. He asked me this?

How critical are all the cuts. If 1 cut or angle is just a little off will it ruin the whole box? Basically he wants to know to how exact a standard must the lab be built.

Is there anybody here on the forum that sells the lab drivers at a good price?

Thanks again,
Mike

OK so considering all the things I've got to do with a small stack of change I've decided I'm buying a table saw and going to make these myself. Shocked  That being said what/where can I find the best tips for following these plans correctly and putting the whole thing together. Is there a supply list anywhere indicating what and how many or how much of each is item needed? Are we talking Elmer's here or something else? I guess step by step instructions would be out of the question.  Very Happy hehe. The last question is about wood. Are we talking Russian birch? Any 11 - 13 ply birch? finished both sides or one? Has anybody used the China birch wood that is less expensive? Have you guys been getting the stuff at Home depot or what??

Thanks again,
Mike

Mike-

Do a Google search like "LABsub glue adhesive site:srforums.prosoundweb.com" and see what comes back.  There have been several discussions about the sticky stuff.

Early in the existence of this set of forums (and maybe before, on the old www.live-audio.com) a few users discussed assembly order; IIRC you are right that there is a preferred way.  At least one builder posted progressive assembly pics of his project.  I'm not sure how long PSW keeps user-posted image files, so if it was posted here they may not be available... but you might be able to contact the contributor.

You will want a miter saw, too.  There are lots of compound miters in this thing.

Have fun, good luck.
