genesis device
« on: December 21, 2008, 09:54:46 AM »

Hello all,

I start building 2 "half" Genesis Device cabs tomorrow as featured on the Acoupower website. There is a picture of a whole
Genesis device on their site.

I'm in the process of ordering the 18" speakers and 10" ports from Acoupower. Carlos Beltran has been verry helpfull by providing me with drawings, pictures and general building information of the GD.

Has anybody any experience with these cabs regarding building and performance.

I have 2 LABS and love em, but I want an honest comparrison.
I power the cabs with a Crown Itech8000

best regards
Leon

It sounds like you are the one who will need to post an honest comparison! I don't think many people have experience with the ACP's or that bandpass design. How big is the Genesis device overall? Bigger than a single lab12 but smaller than a pair?

That's exactly what I'm gonna do... building and listen.

A full GD (as pictured on acoupowers website) is bigger
than a LAB, but I'm building "half" GD's which are smaller.

we'll see what happens... I hope to be ready in about 4 weeks.

Leon,
When was the last time you were in contact with Carlos Beltran from Acoupower ?

I purchased 8 of his 18" drivers and 2 10" ports in June 2008, and have only received 4 of them. I've been trying to contact him leaving phone messages & e-mails but never any replies. I'm afraid I'll never receive my 4 remaining ( pre-paid for ) drivers 10" ports or even get a refund on them.

The last time I spoke with Carlos was July 2008

It seems that from what I've heard that Carlos has disappeared in the past only to resurface sometime later without explanation.

Has anyone out there paid for Acoupower products and not received them ?

Does anyone know what happened to Acoupower ?

There was another guy who had ordered 4 and only gotten 2, I believe. He was on the AVS forum, or maybe that was you? I don't know. There is also a guy who was working with Carlos using his drivers in some HT subwoofers and I think that has fallen through. The website is MIA. John from AE said that Carlos was having some very difficult times in his life and that he had to take care of things and would most likely be back when he got things together. I don't know man. Sad That's very shady if you haven't gotten what you already paid for. How long has it been?

Hello,

The last time I had contact with Carlos was back in June.
He was very helpful in providing me drawings, photo's and general building information regarding the Genesis Device via
Email.

In the last 3 weeks I tried to contact him via mail and phone
but I get no response...

I can't imagine that he engineer's his drivers and other stuff to
fool people, so I assume there is something serious going on, I'll bet he'll be back any time soon and clear things up.

I'm just willing to order drivers + ports... did not pay for anything yet.

best regards,

Leon

If you need to find out where he has disappeared to, maybe you could try calling one of the other businesses in the same building where Acoupower was located.  Somebody there may have some info.

Google Maps lists several:

Wilson & Associates‎ (978) 521-0400
Community Action‎ (978) 373-1971
Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum‎ (978) 373-0448

Hello,

I tried Community Action, according to a helpful lady
Acoupower is no longer in business.

I wish Carlos the best, had the feeling his drivers were top of the bill... but as it is in the world today... only cheap copied commercial behringermeetsipodhiphopconvolutionmakeovercrap crap survives.
Lets stick to Marshall Short's, Ampeg Jackets and Celestion caps...

I was really looking forward to the Genesis Device had real high expectations... pity...

If there is anybody out there who has 2 of the Acoupower 18" drivers and 2 sets of the ports... I'm interested, let me know.
