I am looking for a recomendation for a relavtively lightweight (under 100lbs) Single 18 sub...It will be powered by a crown I-tech 6000...So far I have been considering the JBL SRX and VRX (Don't really know the differenc) 918's..and the yorkville 608's...I am currently using EAW SB 250's which are great but don't throw as far as I'd like...Any suggestions??

Size and weight are my primary concern...There are many situations where I load my shows alone and going into a larger cabinet might be a problem...

No I would be looking for probably 4 and just use 2 on my smaller shows

I love my SRX718 subs, they sound great and very easy to move around. Factory castor mounts are nice. No real difference between the 718 and the VRX918 other than the flyware and bracing needed for the hardware. JTR Growlers might be another option to check out, I want to try them myself.

There are a few people using growlers powered off a I-Tech 6000 with great success. 4-6 growlers, 2-3 per channel in stereo.

Unless your truck height is too high and you don't have a ramp, I find a 2x18 easier to load than a 1x18 (tip-lift-push, as opposed to lift whilst keeping my balance and then taking a step).

Hey Tamar,

Take a look at what the rental shops in your area have as well.  The ability to subrent locally can be a real advantage.  If you can rent cheaply, and their stock is large enough, you could even possibly get by with just owning two, depending on how often you would need all 4.

I own two srx718 and really like them driven with a Crest Pro9200.  A local shop has twelve in their rental stock, along with I-Techs to drive them, so for the 3 or 4 shows a year I do where I need 4 or more subs, I just rent and pass the charge on to the customer.  Works better than having several thousand $ in gear sitting around in the storage room doing nothing.

Thanks for all the input...Not sure if it makes a difference or not but I have switched amps to two Lab Gruppen FP 6400's (Selling the I-techs if anyone is interested)..Right now I am leaning towards 4 JBL Srx 718's...Interesting point about the double 18's but there are times when we have stairs to load in and double 18's may be difficult...BTW just in case anyone was wondering I used the Lab Gruppens for 3 shows this past weekend and was extremely happy with their performance...
