Who sells pro audio wire?
« on: September 09, 2008, 08:06:01 PM »

I can not for the life of me, on the internet, local hardware stores, or electrical outlet suppliers find a friggin' roll of pro-audio grade speaker wire. I want 200ft of black 14-2 flexible wire and I want it cheap!! If ebay sellers can sell 100'of cable WITH ends (neutric or 1/4") for $50 or less, then they must be buying rolls of the stuff for pennies a foot.

Please help.

What is this "pro-audio grade" you speak of?

If they are selling lots of cables, they're buy it in large quantity. They get a discount for that.

Any Horizon dealer (and many others as well) can get you what you want, in any length up to 1000'.

What do you consider "cheap"?

Remember-you get what you pay for.

I have found some horizon dealers in my area.

"Cheap" would hopefully be somewhere around  $.20-$.30/foot. Tomorrow I will find out more from the dealer.

Thanks fellas.

I too would like to know what you consider "pro grade speaker wire" and where you are going to use it. I don't know if SJ electrical cord meets your specifications.

As far as cheap goes, with SCRAP insulated copper wire like that SJ cord fetching $2 a pound what do you think you are going to pay for new stuff? I guess you haven't noticed that the cost of copper and steel has been going through the roof for quite a while. Probably those people who sell it cheap have had it lying around for a long time or it's not what you think it is.

If you want the best, ProCo Power Plus is probably your best bet. Be prepared to spend big money.

Are you replying to me? Because that doesn't make any sense--I gave an example of SJ cord that's fine at a low price and an example of top quality at a top price. Nowhere is there a contradiction.

Sorry, no Silas, to the thread in general, wanting pro-audio grade speaker wire, cheap.

Kind of like Military Intelligence, or Deafening Silence.
