Altec M42 condenser?
« on: June 23, 2008, 12:50:05 PM »

Someone gave me a box full of "stuff" after cleaning out an old recording studio. 1 of the items is an Altec M42 condenser microphone. Its old but I dont think its "vintage". Its a pencil like thing - similar but a little smaller than an SM57. I cant find any info about it on the Internet. Does anyone here know anything about it? Im looking for a condenser to use on hi-hats.
Thanks!

That would be the capsule number for the cardioid pattern, and there should be a 201A power supply attached to it with a 5 position attenuator.  The whole system is an M53, released in the mid 70s.
