Ads not displaying correctly
« on: June 04, 2008, 08:23:35 PM »

Ernie, I'm running Safari 3.1.1 under OS X 10.5.3. Here's what I see at the top of the PSW page... it seems to be making the headers take up a lot of space, a third of the page is taken up by things I don't want to read!

Congratulations, Bennett: that's about the fastest response to an update I've ever seen.  Shocked

Seriously, there's very little difference in the amount of space the headers take up now compared to before; the main difference is moving the skyscraper ad higher on the left, making (for most visitors on 1024x768 or higher res browsers, depending upon the space allotted to the browser toolbars) the 125x125 visible above the fold. There is only a slight increase (+/- 25 pixels) in space between the text at the top of the forum and the forum content area.

I know that everyone would rather have the forum content at the top of the page, but the ads pay for this thing, so we have to make do. Sorry it's not to your liking.

Ernie,

I'll survive the ads, I meant more the "PSW Product Showcase" banner displaying behind the main banner.

That's a result of the width of your browser window/resolution. Unfortunately, making that module remain fixed to the right of the leaderboard ad also forces the forum content to be a tad over 1100 pixels wide, which would force horizontal scrolling on anyone viewing at 1024x768 or smaller (28% of PSW users). Allowing it to slide under the leaderboard ad allows the forum to be resized to a little over 900 pixels (affecting only 2% of PSW users), so it's by far the lesser of two evils.

At browser width of 1152 and up, the problem disappears.

OK, as long as it's not a bug!

Do you not all see that his real problem is that he has a mac.  I don't know how you could do sound with a mac seeing as there aren't many programs that can run on it, besides recording programs.
