Hey guys

I have had the week from HELL. thaught I would share.

Im out on tour at the moment with the Xfactor Band Journey south. Its a good show and I'm enjoying the run so far, carring some D&B C4 supplyed by Ultrasonics audio. ML3000 out front and rack of Drawmer. So all is happy and well.

Load in 4 days ago a flight case slipped and the case on top crushed my finger..... Im ok but will loose the nail.

THEN....

2 days ago at load out the case rolled sideways against the door as I went down the ramp crushing my other Hand.

THEN....

Last night I was stood on stage inocently coiling cables..... and a section of the theater stage collapsed below me. Fell through into the Room underneath the stage. I was in shock. but wasnt hurt.

What a week. I have been so Unlucky its crazy. 8 years with only minimal accidents and then 3 major ish accidents in 4 days.

Stay safe out there guys!

Sounds like you've had a bad spell - fortunately these things are supposed to come in 3's so maybe your run of bad luck is over; just be careful anyway!

Maybe this will be a helpful suggestion for the future:  When moving cases, I've disciplined myself to always wear a fairly good grade of medium heavy leather gloves (as opposed to cotton or those stretchy rubbery-nylon gloves).  I wear the leather gloves primarily for protection against smashing my fingers.  I still smash my fingers occasionally, but it's doesn't hurt as much nor do as much damage... and... for whatever reason... it seems like I don't smash my fingers as much with the gloves on for the reason that with my "power gloves" on, I seem to be more confident of myself and actually work safer.  I got acquainted with the "power gloves" from an old mechanic who taught me to wear gloves when wrenching in tight spots where there's lot's of knuckle busters in the immediate vicinity.  With the power gloves on, I seem to use the tools with more confidence (since I have a safety net) and more correctly... which leads to considerably fewer mishaps.

I also wear a leather cap (as opposed to a baseball cap) since the leather hat seems to offer significantly better protection against bonking my head into things (like lowered lighting apparatus).

Ouch,

You'll have to get a full Neptunic body armour shark suit for your next load-in/load-out.

Yeah, stay safe! Here's hoping you regain that nail in good order.

Actually, that was a character of his from "In Living Colour", which ran originally on the Fox network in the early 1990's for a few years.  One of my favorites, BTW... I give it two snaps up in a "Z" formation.  Wink Cool

Commiserations...

I'm busy gigging at the moment and having to limp everywhere due to a 'friend' dropping a 2x18" sub on my left foot and breaking my toe last week!

Kim, I hope life gets a little less exciting for you, at least for a while!

I hope the HSE are involved with a stage collapsing, someone needs to take a slapping for that.

Your employer (which is you if you are (genuinely) freelancing) is obligated by law to provide you with the necessary personal protection equipment for your job, so a set of steelies, earplugs, and appropriate gloves as a minimum...

Talk about a run of bad luck though...
