Unfortunatly not very prevalent in the UK and once things like that have crossed the pond the price tends to at least double.......

There is some method to my madness.

Anyway, while I appreciate your input, i'm not looking to debate what the best option is, i'm after finding out what the limitation are of them used on there own or as a pair as per my questions.

Cheers

1200W per box with 35Hz HPF.

Thanks Marjan, Is that max power to user per single box or is that more of a continuous rating (i.e. user ~1.5 x of actual amp power) and what impedance would that be referenced to (as I belive the horn loads the impedance I'm a little confused as to what to be looking at in that respect)?

Cheers

Amp of 1200W per channel at 4 ohm will be safest maximum for one per side or two in a block.
I wont try for more even for a block of 4.
Be absolutely sure that there are no leaks in the speaker chamber.

There are some unloaded LAB subs in the LAB Marketplace.

From a Crown email, the story on the CE4000 is:

2x 600 @ 8
2x 1200 @ 4
2x 1600 @ 2 (sheet says 1400, or 1800w if mains is above 200vac)

1x 2400 @ 8
1x 3200 @ 4 (sheet says 2800,  or 3600w 1kHz if mains is above 200vac)

At 2 Ohms (stereo), the CE4000 at 120VAC will give you 1600 W per channel or 3200W at 4 Ohms bridge.  As for the specs on the CE4000, that's a Sales and Marketing call there.  The 1800W (2 ohms, <200vac mains) spec is a true value, but when the amplifier was first designed, with the power supply under low impedance loads at full power, there was a coil that started to resonate which didn't sound good.  It never failed or caused any problems it just sounded bad, and it was coming from the amplifier not through the speakers. So the fix for that caused the current limiting circuit to kick in a little earlier which at 120V or anything below 200VAC limited output power to 1600w. It could still reach 1800W but not for a extended period of time.

You can feed them with a bunch of power (2,000 watt peaks aren't tough) but the more compressed your program material is the less you can feed them. 1200 @ 4 ohms sounds pretty safe though if you ask me.

When they say these cabs are designed for use in blocks of 4 or more they really mean it. I used 2 in a group and they sounded pretty good, but 4 these things shine. The mouth of the horn just isn't large enough to really work properly. Unless you're building 4 buy or build something that works well in singles. I really think even at double the price the Yorkie Cabs are worth the money.

I'd high pass them at about 40 hz becuase you're not getting much less than that out of them in singles anyways.

I honestly think imedence is around 4 ohms per cab when used as singles, maybe it goes up a bit the more you use in a group.
