Broken Plug Panel
« on: April 16, 2008, 03:56:21 PM »

So a little while ago my pv118 sub stopped working, I opened it up and the driver itself is fine, however the panel doesn't seem to be passing the power/signal.
Now nothing actually looks broken, and the 1/4'' plugs go in fine and everything, so what could be the problem here? I can try to answer any questions.

Assuming you have determined that the 1/4" speaker output works in another cabinet, but does not work in your sub with a working speaker, that leaves the 1/4" jack and internal speaker wire to check out.

Either the jack is tarnished to the point it is not passing current, the speaker wire has broken internally, or you have a cold solder joint between the two. Vibrations could have  caused a solder connection to break and go cold, especially if the jacks are mounted on a printed circuit board.  Check it out with an ohm meter.
