Hello,

Anyone know of a surround preamp with balanced ins and outs? preferrably not overly expensive.

I've been thinking about picking one of these up for myself:  http://outlawaudio.com/products/990.html

It has balanced outputs at least.

I do not recall seeing a surround processor with multiple balanced inputs and outputs.  I believe that Lexicon offers both the MC-12 that Craig referenced and the MC-8 in balanced output versions.  The Sunfire Theater Grand Processor-5 also has balanced outputs.  The Classe SSP-600 offers balanced outputs and a balanced input.  However, "overly expensive" may be a factor as it looks like the MC-8 Balanced goes for $5,500 to $5,600 and the MC-12 HD Balanced for over $9,000.  The Classe SSP-600 is between those at around $6,500.  The Sunfire is a little less at around $3,500.  There used to be a couple of less expensive options that I knew of but those seem to have gone away.

Thanx for your inputs.

I've found a good and affordable preamp. The Denon DN-A7100.

It's got balanced out's and a balanced stereo aux input.

MSRP in the US is about $1100 whils street price is around 850 - 900.........

I was about to send you there, this little unit is _FANTASTIC_ and I am very pleased they have made it available for a fair price.
