Okay, I know that on some of my projectors, when I use the VGA input, I loose a lot of my image adjustment controls. I suspect this has to do with the projector using a different scaler for VGA than it does for, say, Composite input.

It strikes me that it might be possible that your projector WILL NOT display 16x9 content when using the VGA input.

Overshooting and shrinking is certainly a solution... but not a very elegant one. You're not getting the full brightness or resolution your projector has to offer. But that's going to be the case ANY time a 4:3 projector shoots in 16x9, regardless of of the format.

But you're exacerbating the problem by digitally zooming out then physically zooming in. It'll work, but does it look like crap?

Quite a conundrum. 3' of RP space!!! I don't know, until you can find a native 16:9 with super wide screen, I think the fact that you can get it to work at all is more than could have been expected!
