Go to your User CP and check your subscriptions. You may be subscribed without knowing. For some reason (which I hope the coming forum upgrade will resolve), the Unsubscribe All link does not work; instead, click the Unsubscribe link next to each forum or topic to which you want to cancel your subscription.

In your User CP > Settings, you can toggle off the default notification:

Select Notification by Default:
If notification is enabled by default, it can be disabled when posting.

You've probably got this selected as Yes.

It's a vicious cycle; if we turn off notification, all those who want it complain they don't get it, and if we turn it on, those who don't want it complain. No one size fits all.

People were complaining that they were not receiving notifications. Of course, by turning notifications on, we now have people complaining that they ARE receiving notifications!  Rolling Eyes
