Thanks, Kevin. This forum answered my questions - all of them.

Of course, I'll just use two-port speakons on each cabinet to make things easier.

Yes, in this configuration the speakers are wired wrong and you have shorted across one of the drivers... do not wire them in this method!

I ran a 6.0 with 1 cabinet per side (2 6.0s)

I downsized to 2 RMX4050HDs to feel way more comfortable about running them to the clip to know i'm throwing them about 1400-1600 watts a piece.

If i did rock shows with lots of dynamic content i would feel comfortable running 1 per side on a PL6.0 (with a 30 amp circuit)

But yes i do have them run parralell. You could run 2 per side if you wanted / had to (1.5-2 ohms or so).

You can easily do the same trick just use 4 conducter cable

first +1/-1 go to Speaker wired in parralell (3 ohm cabinet) and +2/-2 get passed through to +1/-1 on 2nd speakon (2 speakon connectors on each LAB). Make sure you label the In & Out on each box though.

Welcome to the Lab/Horn place...

The Lab12 driver is 6 Ohm (nominal)
Four 6 Ohm drivers in parallel result to 1.5 Ohm.
I think your 'all parallel' wiring will overload the amp.

You should connect each two drivers (of one cab) in series.
From the Speakon's (1+) to #1 driver's (+),
from # 1 driver's (–) to #2 driver's (+)
and from #2 driver's (–) to the Speakon's (1-).
The two Speakons should be paralleled like before.

This will bring the impedance of a single cab to 12 Ohms
and when paralleled with a second cab will result to 6 Ohms per (amp.) channel.

I would also recommend installing double Speakon plates on all four Labs.
This will take one thing off your mind when setting up your system…

Unfortunately, this is completely wrong. The horn loads the driver and changes the impedance, which an ohmmeter can't see. Running 2 LABs per side on an Itech 8000, with everything in parallel, I see 3 to 4 ohms per channel depending on level, heat buildup, etc.

So, 2 LABs will safely/easily run on any amplifier channel that supports 4 ohms.

Thanks, Silas - I was hoping someone would come back and re-affirm that explaination...

So, i just wanted to be sure that I have planned my wiring properly. The first diagram that I posted is what I think all-parallel wiring will look like in this configuration.

Does his look like proper parallel wiring???

Yes,...both the drivers and speakon connectors should be wired + to + and - to -...Smile

So, with a dual speakon jack plate, just connect the (+) of the two speakons and two subs together, and the (-) together?

Hey, Ohm loads aside, wouldn't running in series actually be an added safety factor when running the lab subs? I have heard that when one of the two drivers fails, the other driver is sure to fail quite quickly after..... running in series would open the circuit saving the "good" driver.

 I'm just sayin' Razz
