Acoustic-Electric Hum & Crackle Help
Duncan McLennan:
Sorry, forgot to mention the cable. It's easy to forget that on the forum (especially the new forum) people can't know that I'd know what type of cable to use.
I tried several different shielded instrument cables, TS ends, both home made and store bought. I also tried a Star-Quad cable I made with TS ends, and one pair tied to ground at one end (a 'directional' drain cable). The noise stops when I touch the metal on the guitar, the metal preamp chassis, the amplifier chassis.
I can't open the back plate. It's an acoustic guitar and the only way to get inside is the sound hole. So I'll just have to pull the electronics (at least as much as I can), and give more info from there if I can't get it working properly.

Hey Duncan, you DID try with another guitar, right?
