Hello all,

I just wanted to take a minute to perpetuate the memory of Michael Hedges.  If you've never heard of him, please check out this link.  If you like it, dig a little deeper.  Starting with Taproot wouldn't be a bad idea.

I was fortunate to do a few shows with him around 93'94'. He was undoubtedly one of the finest guitarists I have ever worked with. His tunings were fantastic, his technique was fasinating.
And an incredibley mellow person. He passed way to early. Seems so strange that when certain people get to a point of disspelling their demons, and are on the road to ultimate success (not that it mattered), they pass on.

As I stated in a previous post, Michael Hedges was one of the best musicians on the planet, and a great guy as well! I met him at Peabody Conservatory, and we used to play some gigs together  around Maryland. One of the original harp guitar gurus!

Hedges used to come to my venue about once a year, it was always an interesting experience.  If he hadn't made it as a musician, he could have had a good fallback career as a monitor tech, he could identify problem frequencies, accurately, in a flash.

I saw him here at Ravinia, summer home of the CSO and jazz/pop/folk/etc. under the stars, and was there early enough to watch him sound check and call out his monitor eq by frequency-a nice touch, as Dave pointed out.  FOH was beautiful, and he played a great show.
Aerial Boundaries is still a test for sound system listening in my CD wallet.
