You don't have to use a crossover cable at any point with the LS9 it works with standard cable just as good!

And it says the same thing in the manual!

Dear All,

Like some computers LS9 and DME satellites do have the auto switch over feature called Auto MDIX so that a cross over cable is not required for direct connection.  However let's not press the point because the older M7CL and DMExN do not have this feature.  A cross over cable will work for direct connection for all Yamaha products and a straight cable for only some.....so which cable are you going to carry?

Matt,

Thanks for the clarification.  Now it all makes sence.  A point well made.

I will make the changes in my "instructions" to reflect this information.

OK, here's the question of the day.  We've computers that autosense and hardware that can autosense.  Which one gets to pick first?  Confused

For once, we find that computer sense is sensible and it just works!

Forgive me if this is a dumb question or I missed the info somewhere, but are you connecting the w/l router directly to the LS9, or are you connecting a computer to the LS9 and connecting the router to that?  Thanks for the great info...

The router connects to the console via one of the router's LAN ports, *not* the WAN port.

It is also possible to connect a computer directly to the console, and use another computer to access it via Windows Remote Desktop.  That's the long way home...

Have fun, good luck.
