Kling & Freitag Access

Anyone?
Search didn't yield much.

I have a upcoming show in Europe and I've never used these.

What's the story on them? http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/images/message_icons/icon14.gif-or-http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/images/message_icons/icon13.gif  ??

They look like a flawed 850 with some foam stuffed in them to me.  Confused

I've heard good things about it - it is certainly reassuringly expensive. In what way does it look flawed?

What I meant was it "looks" like a -Roll Your Own- 850 and (they) didn't get it right.

A small stab @ humor.

For some reason when I hear the name Kling & Freitag I think of Hughes & Kettner......

It's @ a festival gig in a tent...should prove to be exciting! Laughing

Hi Jon!

Kling+Freitag - so you're probably coming to Austria or Germany, then.

K+F enjoys a great reputation around here. Although I have not heard an Access system yet, the smaller ones (Line 212 and CA series) are very nice sounding systems IMO. Well manufactured too, and they (the Line 212) also array well.

I'm not particularly impressed by this manufacturer's subwoofer systems, but as I said - I can't speak for the Access Line, just for the smaller ones.

Sorry that I can't offer more help here, but rest assured that K+F definitely offers a quality product and that they do not just produce cheap knock-offs of 850s.

HTH (a little), Cheers, Thomas

IIRC Miffe have spoken favorably in the past about Kling & Freitag (don't remember which models).

Once again if memory doesn't fails me (very possible) they fell out on the better side (in Miffes opinion) in comparison with some D&B....

Hopefully Miffe and/or some of the german LABsters can fill in with more useful information.

You will have fun.

exept for the tent-acustics maybe.

Greetings from German.

Hi Jon,

Kling & Freitag have a good reputation here in Germany.  They haven't got the name recognition of other brands, but their products are solid.  I have run a couple of gigs on the bigger K&F CA series speakers and liked what I heard.  For what it's worth, the D&B rigs just didn't do it for me, but ymmv.  And Meyer is probably a step up.

I met one of the K&F principals at Plasa last September, nice guy forgot his name, and he said that all of their products are voiced as closely as possible.  If this is the case, I would expect the same tonal quality from the Access cabinets as the CA series.

Although all of this is kinda moot since you and I both know that you can take the best rig, set it up bass ackwards and it will sound like a@@.

Enjoy the tent acoustics.

I used to work with k&f here in Athens for 3 years..
The products are having great construction with high end components and electronics..great internal crossovers they use seperated boards for woofer and horn..
The sound reproduction is awsome for speech and physical instruments but not very good at "kicky-punchy" sounds..
Also they use dedicated controllers so... Laughing  Laughing
Ok..generally are very good loudspeakers and i think that you are not going to have problems..

Definitely http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/images/message_icons/icon14.gif. I hope you get the B10 subs in addition to standard B5. B5 alone is a kicking bass but doesn't go too low. B10 adds the bottom octave and does it easily.

What Mats said about my comparisons between d&b and K&F was right. I prefer T9 over C7 because of the difference i output vs. (frontal) size. With D12 C7 maybe louder than with P1200A but on the lower edge of its passband it fells short.

Hey Triple-J,

This trip no dirty leather-strapped audience? Smile
K&F Access is clean, projects well when configured correctly from my experience. (Couple of festivals around 2000 att.) Miffe is right about the B5 and B10 things. Don't expect to much grunt from the system. Clean and defined is the character. When it's aggresive in the highs you have a bad system engineer Smile (Yup, happened way too often.)
