« on: January 16, 2005, 04:43:21 PM »

Hi everyone,

Ive just aquired an 19" SGM 8 channel dimmer pack cheap. On the back panel the only input is labeled up as SGM256 digital in. Anyone know what this is all about?? Is it possible to convert this to DMX.....

Thanks,
Martyn.......... Confused

SGM's web site is www.sgm.it

From a brief look I guess your dimmer is a P810D, which isnt listed as a current product, but the manual is available, http://www.sgm.it/manuali/P610D_P810D/M001050_EN_1_01.zip.

I'm sguessing SGM256 is their own proprietry digital protocol, but... the manual says Each P610/D and P810/D dimmer can be customized by different panels for the input signal. which implies that the dimnmer can do DMX512, you just need the right connections for it to do so.

Your best bet is probably be to email the Italians, who may sell you a DMX512 input plate for not much money, and that'll solve your problem nicely.
