QSC PLX3402 and JBL 4715's
« on: July 08, 2008, 01:08:28 AM »

Looking to run two JBL SR4715's, dual 15 cabs,1200 watts at 4 ohm with a QSC PLX 3402. The QSC puts out 1100 watts at 4 ohms per side so just wandering if you guys think thats enough power.

Greg,
Here's my take on the whole amp/speaker relationship. What is your application? Does the speaker produce the output you need without clipping the amp? If so, you have enough power. If not, you either need more power (if the speaker will in fact take that power and produce more output), more subs or more of both.  There is some information in the LAB studyhall that you should read regarding powering speakers.
With that said, I provide a local cover band with a small system and the PLX3402 would be the smallest amp that I would use with those speakers. I'd prefer a Crest Pro9200 or perhaps an additional PLX3402 for my application. I hope this helps.

That's less that .4 dB from the manufacturer's recommendation.  I don't think you need to run right out and buy a new amp. Smile

It wasn't clear you were talking about a subwoofer. I'd say you're OK, those should get pretty loud.
