Title: What Scaler/Switcher should I get?
Post by: Arnold B. Krueger on October 12, 2010, 01:37:35 PM
I've found 3 switcher/scalers that seem to be a good match for our needs:

Ocean Matrix OMX-7280

Kramer VP 725XL

Analog Way Octo Value Plus

We currently have 2 VGA (actually XGA) and 4 TV analog video inputs, but see outselves going more toward digital and HD in the near fture. We curently have 2 XGA video projectors with their own RGBHV splitter. The larger projector has a DVI input we might want to exploit in the near term.

Comments?

Other alternatives?

PS: We sprang for the Kramer VP725XL which is now installed and working very well. Picture quality seems to be sharper and clearer, above and beyond the benefits of all of the otimization and tuning that we can now do.

We found it very helpful to have a video display in the booth, and not depend solely on the display of on-screen menus on the big screen up front. Text in the menus is a bit small for long-distance viewing.

Low cost provider was Audio General in PA.
