2 mix monitor rack. I had 4 of these. 2 would clip together for on-wheel use, but were splittable for a one man lift up stairs.


The Speakon's are all crooked.  I would have to redo.  That would make me insane!

You're thinking of HyperMAC (as opposed to SuperMAC, which is what Sony called the 100 Mbps version before it became an AES standard); strictly speaking, the 1 Gbps version has never been incorporated into the (royalty-free) AES50 standard, so "AES50" refers only to the 100 Mbps version.

Midas uses HyperMac on some larger consoles to carry several AES50-connections over single cat or fibre cable.

EAW speakers needs proper processing to perform at the correct level. You'll need a DSP or a DSP-controlled amplifier capable of running EAW Greyboxes.
Look for a used EAW UX processor, QSC Q-sys processor (These currently support KF, QX, MK and VF models), LAB PLM or Powersoft DSP amps (excluding the old M-series platform).

We have passive (hardwired) splitters and transformer isolated splitters, all Whirlwind.

At the risk of being called ultra pedantic, hardwired and transformer isolated splitters are both "passive" ;-)

If it only it were that simple. I was reminded recently that part of the challenge of dealing with electric guitar players is that, for many of them, "their tone" is what's coming out of the amp ~45° off-axis and at least 1m away, and what's being perceived by a typically-on-axis microphone (or the poor sods on house left, for that matter) "doesn't sound right" regardless of the fact that it's what the audience will actually be hearing. It's why many guitar players don't want their instrument in their wedge (and IEMs only make things that much worse).

I once had a loud-enough-that-the-drums-needed-reinforcement-in-a-smallish-venue guitar player explain to me that he once tried a tilt-back on his amp but it "really caused him some problems". Or there was the one who mentioned that he couldn't put the amp offstage somewhere and rely on his monitor mix instead because what comes out of the wedge "always sounds too harsh and it causes me to play timidly".

I'll have to remember to take one the next time I have a chance, but conceptually I'm just using PowerCON turnarounds as rear-mounted passthrough connectors (all blue-and-grey PowerCON panel-mount connectors are D-sized, and the ones in the turnarounds are no different).

nice! Do you use solder connectors or passthrough

I can't speak for Chris, but after some experimentation I personally now use only passthrough connectors because they make basically everything easier.

Does anyone recognize these EAWs?  This is the only picture provided.  The seller is really lazy and the whole ad just says $250 each.  Does anyone know anything about these?  Seem like a good deal or should I walk away?

If they are anything like mine, the previous owner spray painted everything black, scratch the back panel and you'll find the information you need in the top right corner.

So I'm figuring this out as I go. I'm probably wrong in a few places and need guidance.
So I run an X32 with the S32 stage rack. I have some EAW KF695E speakers with AP4/6 connections. I found a very good thread here that details the NL4/8 conversion. But I have questions. I'll only run these as bi-amp and have no interest in tri-amp due to trailer weight capacity and current amps in possession. The conversion is doable. However, I am unsure about two things. The X32 matrices have crossover features, so no external crossover needed? Also, if I convert just the AP4s to NL4s I am curious on wiring to the amp.
Assuming i'ld run something like, Output 13 -> Matrix 3(LEFT HF/MF), Output 14 -> Matrix 4(LEFT LF), Output 15 -> Matrix 5(RIGHT HF/MF), Output 16 -> Matrix 6(RIGHT LF).

This would be running to Crown XTI 4000s I've repaired, I have two but if this is the way I'll buy more. I have other QSC amps that run the subs, likely matrices 1&2. (Although couldn't I just run a single output for each and Y-split XLR to the amps????) Order I guess isn't important ATM. I assume i'ld run XLR from S32 outputs to Crown amps in Bridge mode, NL4 from amps to EAW speaker?

I'm trying to learn from these forums and the patchy information everywhere else, so apologies if I've absorbed misinformation. It's been a real link rabbithole learning what I have so far.

I have a seismic 32ch that I've used a handful of times with no issue.  Their stuff gets a bad rap, but for something that gets taken care of, it works fine.  I wouldn't use their cables on stage, but the split doesn't get abused.

I would be willing to sell mine, as I'd much rather have 2 16 channel units since it would fit my needs better.
