Title: B&K amplifer Logo
Post by: Curtis H List (Too Tall) on November 12, 2012, 11:40:53 AM
I was looking at amplifiers on ebay when I came across this-

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BK-ST-140-2-CHANNEL-AMPLIFIER-W-ORIGINAL-OWNERS-MANUAL-NO-RESERVE-/221152548285?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item337db815bd

Notice the Logo on the amp is incorrect, but the model does exist.
Anyone know about this?
I would say it was a copy so they could not use the real Logo for B&K.

Hi,
Maybe now that B&K is DPA, the name seemed available? Check this:

http://www.bkcomp.com/

or am I off on the wrong foot?

Best,

Another Curtis,

Another Curtis,

DPA is a company that split off from Bruel and Kjaer. Both companies still exist. DPA makes microphones for sound reinforcement and recording. Bruel and Kjaer makes test equipment (including microphones) which is primarily acoustcs and vibration related.

Bruel and Kjaer is often shortened to B&K but there is also an American company named B&K which made electronic test equipment. Search Ebay for "B&K test"

Hello Curtis!  Hope you are well..

This product was among a few others that were,(as I recall) from a mail order company. (late 1980's early 1990's)  It is not connected with the Bruel & Kjaer company.   I actually purchased and still own one of this company's shotgun microphones.  It's not very good.  However, I have not ever owned any of this B & K's other products, so, I cannot comment on this Amplifier's quality.  If you are looking for a quality product, I'd recommend that you'd purchase something else for a more assured result.

Good to hear from you...  Hammer
