Title: Studio Manager v2.2.1 on Mac
Post by: Ollie Morrish on March 05, 2008, 11:57:10 AM
Hi All,

I'm wondering if anybody here has tried the new version of studio manager with the new version of PM5D editor (v2.2.0) on an intel mac. I just installed them both and now I get an error message when trying to add the PM5d from the device editor window to the workspace window. It says "Please ensure you have installed required component(s) correctly."

I've tried reinstalling both SM2 and PM5D editor, and had no success. I'm running a Macbook Pro and all previous versions have worked fine.

Thanks,
Ollie

I have found the same problems.  The Studio Manager host version 2.2 has been available on the Steinberg site for a while now but the various plug-ins for the consoles ( other than the 01V96 ) would not load into it with the same result as you and I are experiencing now.  The Yamaha site seems to indicate that all of the plug ins have been updated but only the DM1k and 01V editors appear to be the correctly updated from what I have found.  These updated versions do run noticeably faster - finally on a par with the Windoze version so I hope that Yamaha gets this sorted out.

Thanks,

At least it's not something I'm doing wrong on my end. Hopefully the windows version works ok as that's what I'll have to use now. I've emailed Yamaha support but haven't received a reply yet.

*Slowly backs away from his Laptop, leaving the 2.20 updates uninstalled*

Problem is that if you want to sync to a PM5D with the latest firmware upgrade you have to use the most recent software update.

Ollie,

Ran into the same problem you had, but I deleted the PM5DV2 plugin on my Macbook Pro (Intel) and made sure SM2 was running in rosetta.

I deleted the PM5DV2 file under the following folder:

Library -> Application Support -> Yamaha -> SM2 -> Plugins

Reinstall the new PM5DV2 package and cross your fingers.

Hope this works.

Thanks Phillip,

You're dead right. I found this on the PM5D editor page:

"It is now compatible with Studio Manager V2.2.1 on Macintosh computers. However, if you are using Intel Mac, you will need to use Studio Manager via Rosetta.(Please refer to the following site. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303120)"

Studio Manager is now a universal binary, but the PM5D editor is not yet. Select SM2 in the applications folder, right-click then select 'Get Info". In the box that appears, select 'Open using Rosetta'.

Hopefully this will help anyone finding a similar problem.

Cheers,
Ollie
