More coffee snobbery brought about by people with too much time and too much money on their hands. I won't step foot in a Star "gonna take your" bucks and see no reason to follow the lemmings to a store of this type either. Duncan Donuts here I come. Low prices, great coffee. A regular working class coffee shop.

Yet another install done wrong.

Don't blame the sound on the loudspeakers.

Breaking the prohibition against the discussion of religion here I go.  Dunkin Donuts coffee sucks.  Their chocolate frosted cake donuts are the only thing worth going thru the door for ( not a good idea, just good tasting ).

Form over function all the way, its just fun to see a pair of A7s hanging on a coffee shop wall.  Next question is do they have a pair of green Altec 50 watt tube amps behind 'em?

I saw this on PA of the Day recently. I would love to have a nicely restored set of A7's. I have a small pile of Altec amps in my garage actually. Some 1593B 50 watters, and 3 of the big 1590B 200 watt jobs.

I agree that Dunkin Donuts makes great coffee.  I used to frequent DD when I lived on the East Coast, but now just buy their coffee at the commissary.  They finally opened a store near me, but I avoid eating fat pills nowadays.  Another great coffee brand is Lavazza.  Yum!

Those old Altecs bring some serious money these days.

Some people give them away (because of the age) and others pay really good money to have them.

I think of all the old Altec gear that was trashed years ago because it was not up "modern standards" and how much somebody could have made if they put them in storage.

Oh well--------------

I'm a fan of the old Altecs that actually sound good.  My home stereo is a pair of 604Es in baltic birch cabinets and the basement extension speakers are a pair of 601s ( the 12 inch version of the 604 ).  A7s are classics in their way but theres a reason that JBL 4560s and 2350s supplanted them quickly back in the day.

I buy green beans and roast my own at home.
Good taste, cheap price and no hipsters involved  8)
Oh yes, and yet ANOTHER room with not a stitch of sound absorption.
My ears are so...so tired of "noisy" restaurants that I refuse to give them my money.
Minimalist...another word for Cheap

I'll admit to drinking Starbucks regularly... I haven't found anything I like better than their Pikes Place Roast, but I do make it myself in the Keurig at work. :-)

P.S. It's 5:00pm and I just got off work!! Hooray! ;-)

The problem with Starbucks is the price combined with the crappy tasting bitter coffee which the yupsters associate with good taste. Worst atmosphere and loudest crowd noise has to be any Cheese Cake Factory with a Starbucks nearby.

if i need a caffeine jolt, my preference is some green or maté tea, as i do not digest coffee very well.  Starbucks and dunkin donuts exist over here, but largely for the tourists and impressionable fools.  Everyone else goes to a bakery or cafe.  It's nice to support owner-operated establishments (there are of course bakery chains here, too)

Some people seem to treat coffee like a religion.  The reality is that if you are a regular coffee drinker, all it does is temporarily bring you up to the same level you would have been if you were not a coffee drinker.

The people who say that they need a coffee to get them going first thing in the morning would be better off drinking water instead.

I feel sorry for people who don't drink coffee, then... they wake up, and that's as good as they'll feel all day!

The best thing about not being a coffee drinker is waking up and looking forward to a cup of tea.

You can probably tell that I'm English!

Caffeine is caffeine, not matter what we call the liquid it's in.

Nowhere near as much in tea as there is in coffee.

About 11mg in a cup of tea compared with 40mg in coffee.  Of course, you can get decaffeinated versions of both!

I just like coffee. The caffeine is just a benefit. :-) I generally try to limit myself to 2 cups per day so I don't have too much caffeine.
