Hello,
I have 3 Itech HD amps and 2 Itech amps.
I plan to buy a Midas stagebox with AES i/o and was wondering if I ran AES into my Itechs, can I just daisy chain the AES down the line of amps? Or do I need some sort of AES distro?
Thanks

Hi Justin, the answer to your question is yes. You can use the AES In on the first amp and then AES Out to loop to the AES In on the second amp. Repeat as needed. ;)
Make sure you are not using microphone cable for the AES connections. Use cable made to carry a digital signal.
Best of luck to you.

If you read the manual for your iTechHDs it states crowns recommendation how many times you can split the signal. It's different for different sample rates. I want to state they say four times at 96k and right times at 48k. Don't quote me on that though.

Can you send AES/EBU from the console to the midas stagebox?

Its ok, my quote was right. Here is what is in the iTechHD 4x3500 Manual
If multiple connectors are needed for AES3 distribution from a
single AES3 source, the following shows the number of AES
connections in parallel based on AES3 switching frequency.
Frequency # of Connections
96kHz 4 AES3 Pairs
48kHz 8 AES3 Pairs
44.1kHz 8 AES3 Pairs
***Please note with good quality 110 ohm shielded digital cable,
it is possible to obtain a higher number of connections than stated
here. It is up to the user to test this based on their use case. The
connections stated here are based on worst case analysis.

Maybe he giggled at the "right times at 48k" line. idk. Silly iPhones, right?!?

Ha... Yup. Hard to catch things sometimes when your brain knows what it meant to type.

Sweet, looks like I'm in business. Thanks.
Took me forever to find it in the manual.

Yes, DL155.

And sometimes it's the iPhone. "I am SURE you meant to say "right," because if you intended to say "eight," certainly you would have just pressed "8" since heaven forbid in this day and age, no one would ever want to type "eight" when they could easily put in "8."
On my last phone, I sent "VRX" so much that auto-correct did that first instead of "try." Haha.

Thanks. I have a couple of DL153s and I thought I was missing something.

Sweet, I actually think I might do that too instead of 155 now. 2 x 153 once I have the money.
I can always run an AES3 cable out from FOH digitally connect to the Itechs.

Nah, get the stage box so your AES outs are on the deck. Remember that you can patch to multiple outs, giving yourself a splitter.

But I'd only use one AES though to get signal to FOH. All my wedges are powered boxes so I was thinking having more analogue outs would be more useful in my case. As much as I would like having a full digital path to my amps.
