I'm running a little survey about microphone usage for live shows, and I'm hoping to get as large a sample size as possible.
I'm also randomly selecting one survey respondent and giving away a copy of my book, Show Networks and Control Systems.
I have more information and a link to the survey here:

Or you can go directly to the survey here:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/classiclivemicsurvey
The survey closes March 22, 2014, after which I'll put results up on my blog. In addition, I will make available online all the survey responses (minus any emails/names given, of course).
Thanks!
John

John, I get a big kick out of seeing the word "Newbie" attached to your name.
Back to lurking the Broadway sound G group...

FWIW, when I had to learn enough about networking to get the CGI Dante system (http://forums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/topic,146013.0.html) together last Sept, the place I read up on networking was John's book Show Networks and Control Systems (http://www.amazon.com/Show-Networks-Control-Systems-Entertainment/dp/0615655904). I recommend it.

"Like" this one too :-)
Also, since we're on the (off) topic, I have free lecture videos on my website for each book chapter
http://controlgeek.net/book-video-lectures/ (http://controlgeek.net/book-video-lectures/)
The book is about control systems, but a network is a network is a network, so all the networking stuff applies to Dante or any other IP-based network too. (Dante is easy since it uses DHCP). I also have a little blog written up about AES-67, Dante, and AVB:

BUMP!
Remember the survey closes Saturday at noon NYC time! I've got 21 respondents now, but I'd love to get a lot more.
Thanks!

This doesn't take much time and has the potential to be a valuable resource not just for education. I constantly badger my students to experiment with mics and share their experiences. Some of my mic choices are results of conversations with other professionals and sometimes students that prompt me to try something different. I encourage EVERYONE to take this survey.
