When looking for a Surround Sound System....what are the keys items to look for?

I have a Hitachi rear projection Tv...about 1 yr old....

Can I get any system and hook it up to my TV?

There will be a cable box and a ps3 hooked to it as well....do I really need 2 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI outputs??  or can i get by with just a HDMI output?

and info would be great!

I doubt you'll get many responses to this question.  This is a pro sound forum, not a home forum.

I suspect there are online groups specifically for home theatre and hi-fi that would be better suited to answering your question.
