How come the speaker weighs in at 19lbs and the shipping weight is 49lbs??

Two of them per order plus packaging maybe?  Now you can get your whole line array shipped in a single box!  Seriously, if people buy these, and I'm sure they do...I'm working on the wrong end of this business...

Fake tweeter horns just like the old Radio Shack speakers.

Looks like someone left some Meyers in the drying for too long.  ;)

But remember- it "IS" a line array, and is scaleable.

Isn't that all that is important??????

Ducking and hiding now---------

The only "scaling" going on here is 'cause something smells fishy ...  ;D

It's meant to be used in groups of 4 as illustrated.  The big question is do you get 4 of them for the sale price, as a question posed on the site was not specifically answered.

I note that in the first batch of "you might also like" were some really cheap, conventional boxes that uniformly had gotten poor reviews.  This will probably be another.

We can hope, right?

Well, I read the listing as you get all eight speakers (a pair of 4-box "arrayz") for the price. That's probably why when Bob asked how come they're listed as 19# each but shipping weight is 49#-- that's 19# *per array* -- times two is 38, plus box/packaging.

Remember, these are SINGLE 4" speakers (in an array of four speakers) so it's definitely nothing to write home about.

My immediate thought.   ;)

[From Beach Boys "Little Duece Coupe"]

Lyrics

No-go showboat no-go showboat (no-go showboat)
Well I got a wild custom that wins every show
But it's a no-go showboat (no-go showboat)
Yeah but everybody knows that she just don't go
She's my no-go showboat (no-go showboat)
White wall slicks with racing mags
She's just for looks, man, not for drags
'Cause it's a no-go showboat (no-go showboat)

No go
No go

Well the guys all dig it they've got no complaints
About my no-go showboat (no-go showboat)
And the chicks really flip for that metal flake paint
On my no-go showboat (no-go showboat)
It really rates fine in the custom clan
With hand-formed panels, tuck-and-roll rear pan
'Cause it's a no-go showboat (no-go showboat)

No go
No go

Well the engine compartment's filled with all chrome goodies
In my no-go showboat (no-go showboat)
Yeah but everybody takes me even old Ford woodies
In my no-go showboat (no-go showboat)
When it comes to speed, man, I'm just outa luck
I'm even shut down by the ice cream truck
'Cause it's a no-go showboat (no-go showboat)

No go
No go

No-go showboat (no-go showboat)
No-go showboat (no-go showboat)
She's just my (no-go showboat)
She's just my (no-go showboat)

I have many politically Incorrect thoughts whenever I watch videos from this YouTuber.  I actually feel like a bad person as a result.

"Several speakers snapped together. That's a line array"
It's wayyy more simple that I first thought! LoL
Don't feel bad. The guy is a puttz.

Umm, maybe we could ease up on the guy a little? In case no one noticed from his mannerisms, one click on his profile confirms that he's autistic. Flinging internet barbs at someone more challenged than ourselves, however mis-informed they may be, that's not what we're about, right?

Perhaps we could "ease up a bit" but it seems he is capable enough to have a channel and is putting out poor info.
Just because he is on the "spectrum" doesn't mean he should not be taken to task for what he puts out to the public.

I had to take the click bait.... one of the comments to the video was a question:  "Are you related to Evan Kirkendall?"

Evan hasn't been here on the forums in the last couple of years except to sell some stuff on the Marketplace, but Evan came to the LAB years ago as a 16 year old, ranting about blowing up the mids in his Carvin speakers.  Now he's a former Clair employee and runs a nice shop in eastern Maryland.

My guess is the video creator is not related to Evan.

To stray a bit further... I've noticed that LOTS of folks in the entertainment industry exhibit signs of being somewhere on the autism spectrum (Asperger's seems well represented among us).

You don't have to be crazy to work in production, but it doesn't hurt.....

Is that "spam" as in email solicitations, or "spam" as in the ads displayed on the site and other "suggested items you might enjoy?"

Well, that's what I FIGURED, but when he said "spam," it could be followup emails being sent.

Enter yet another reason why I don't use Amazon.

Yep, even after you're bought it.

I was referring to the spam email from Amazon with "recommended items" as well as ads on MyFace and other sites.

This is what I was thinking of when you said "Spam from Amazon," and again, why I won't use them. I totally get the need/desire to market via email to current or past customers, but you NEED TO ASK PERMISSION FIRST! Allow the customer to choose whether or not to receive your crap.

I agree that they should ask first-but ethics and manners usually take back seat to money these days.  Amazon does allow you to opt out-in fact they have a bunch (20-30?) categories that you can sign up to receive e-mails on.  Unfortunately, the default is that you are signed up for everything.
