Title: Stage monitor amp replacement
Post by: Jared Koopman on July 27, 2012, 03:03:14 PM
One of our amps (QSC 2100) has failed. What would you recommend to replace it with that is under $500. This will be used for stage monitors in a church.

I personally own a QSC RMX850 which I like, except the fan can get a bit noisy. I am just curious if we have any quieter options.

It will be driving these...Peavey 112TLM the 12" version

Thanks,

QSC's GX3 should fit the bill. 300w program, $300.

RMX 850 is only 200w @ 8 ohms, that's low for your EV.

I'm a big fan (no pun.....) of the RMX series, having installed a boat-load of them over the last decade with no failures and very good all around performance.

I currently have about 6 projects with the GX-series and a few racks stuffed with them sitting here ready for installation. So although I can't yet say they're great, they appear to be well-designed and built.

As far as I'm concerned you cannot do better, price-wise.

You might consider the next amp up, the GX5, which will allow for an appropriate amount of headroom.
