I signed as well.  In the first 500.   I found the blog post from one of the qlab creators to be quite well said.

It seems one of the sticking points for the tony peeps is a lack of understanding amongst the voting members of what sound design is.  I would certainly hope that they see the wisdom in educating their membership rather than saying something new isn't worth knowing.

Can you point me to the blog post because every time I read an article about "sound design" it seems to be more of the same.  I haven't read anything about anyone pushing boundaries or doing anything truly different than what has been done before.  I would love to be wrong.

That's sort of like saying that there haven't been any advances in lighting design since someone invented a light with a yoke, shutters and focus knob...it's all just the same thing, pointing a light at something onstage. Posting on a professional live sound forum that you don't understand sound design or see any of the advancements that have been made just shows your naiveté. Perhaps you should go back to the Tony Award forums where everyone can pat you on the back for making such a wise and selfless decision.
