Hello fellow audio engineers and lurkers. I have $500 to spend on a set of headphones that are mostly intended for listening to MP3's and wave files on an iPhone, but will also be used while practicing drums. They need to be efficient to have good output from an iPhone, etc. They don't need to isolate much, though some is desirable.
Any suggestions?
I know HD280's, etc for live, looking a little more for listening not soloing a mix.

They have a lot of side by side comparisons and can help you with a amplifier if it's needed.

IMO, anything over a 7506, HD280, or Shure 440/840 headphone will be wasted money. You are listening to Mp3's, not mastering albums.
If you want isolation, then by all means go for the fantastic isolating phones that are out there. If it's 90% iphone usage, go for something that has a volume/mic in the cordset. Klipsch has some great cans that do this.

My drummer has some of these and they sound really great.
