Title: HDBaseT distribution
Post by: TJ (Tom) Cornish on June 28, 2017, 08:40:31 AM
At church we are planning an upgrade from the current VGA/RGB anaconda cables to HDBaseT.  It seems logical to get a multi-port sender.  I found this one:

Any experience with the Hall stuff?  Other choices that are better and/or cheaper?

Haven't used that unit.  The only thing that stands out to me is the rs232 handling.  It's a little more cumbersome than I would like for some automation systems.  It also appears to have global baud rate and parity.  Fine if connections are all to identical devices, otherwise it could be an issue.

Of course, if you don't care about rs232 then it's all moot.

I haven't used that one but I have been very happy with some of these Binary HDBT matrixes.  They have simple DAs as well, but the last time I checked, which was awhile ago, the price reduction between the DA and matrix was minimal so we just went with matrixes.  Either way, simple boxes.  They've been reliable for us, and no complaints otherwise.

When we got it a few years ago there weren't a lot of options.  I know there are a lot more options now, so it may be worth shopping for a higher end option.

I have used the Hall Research products with very good results and very good support.
As was already mentioned just be careful of your needs vs. supported capabilities.

You can't go wrong with the extron gear.  Has always been rock solid for me http://www.extron.com/product/product.aspx?id=dtphdda330
