Often there is a better crowd dynamic when the crowd sings along.

But you need a critical mass of people who really know the words.

Does anyone have any good solutions to putting lyrics on screens without having an entirely predetermined playlist?

I guess I am looking for the midpoint between a rave and death by powerpoint...

Have you considered using cue playback software such as QLab or Show Cue System?  Both can handle hot key triggers for non-scripted playback.

ProPresenter is how all the Churches do it. You can have a motion background, then put text over that however you want. Its pretty easy.

Yeah, just in case the congregation can't remember the 14 words that repeat over and over and over in most worship songs.
