the issue of crashing is not confined to pc based controllers...ever work on the 'digital' consoles of the late 80's and early 90's?

Ugh

Tru, most controllers are PC based now anyway. For some not fun, try using a GrandMA & NSP on a film set.

I was referring to the Pearl, which I've crashed several times (usually while patching fixtures)

Anything with an operating system can crash.  Which means 99% of the desks out there.

As for me, I've run Hogs, Hog PC, and LightJockey.  None has ever crashed.  Ever.  It's a matter of doing things logically, and making sure that your system and drives are clean.  Just like everything else, computers require maintenance.

I own a light jockey system with the fingers expansion wing. Works great! Never had a problem and if I ever do I know martin lighting is always there with a 24/7/365 support line. However if budget allows I would defiantly recommend an MA console perhaps the Micro or ultra. Smaller in size but all functions are there.
