Thanks for all the input guys. I took care of my problem by building my own HI FI/band PA cabs using components from Parts Express. The cabs are 49" tall, 21.5" wide and 15.5" deep and have a Dayton 18" woofer crossed st 800 hz, a Selenium D250 compression driver w/selenium HC23-25 lense midrange crossed at 4,500 hz and an Eminence APT 200 compression driver/bi-radial horn for the highs. Both the mid and high drivers are on L pads to balance the sound. They sound absolutely incredible! At ten feet they average about 100 db with the input PEAKING at 5 watts, averaging about 2 watts! And that is with the midrange two digits from off on the L pad and the tweeter 4 digits from off! I now have two double throwdown dual purpose Cabs that sound like $3,000.00 - $5,000.00 speakers for less than a grand invested plus my time. Down the pike I plan on upgrading amps and bi-amping to let the 500 watt [rms] 18" really cut loose. Rock on!
